Many of you in
the area will have visited the recreation ground at some time and,
if it has been since June last year, you can't fail to have noticed
the major works that have been taking place.
The former pavilion has been totally transformed into a modern,
clean and bright amenity, for the parish to enjoy and make use
of.
A brand new meeting room (some would say a mini hall) has been
created, with the benefit of catering facilities adjoining.
Changing and shower facilities have been installed, for the use
of sporting events held in the field, and also for the home games
of South Zeal United.
Also,
thanks to the bringing together of the former Social Club, which was
sited a the top of the village, and the Recreation Ground Association,
a bright new snooker room has been created, to give a new lease of
life to the club and give the players facilities to be proud of and
enjoy.
In this bulletin
we feature the "Snooker
Club" and give details of how new members can join the club.
The "Snooker Room" has been equipped with a new table and also one
of the existing tables has been improved and re-clothed. The facility
has a warm and welcoming atmosphere and we are sure many of you who
have always had an interest in the game can now take advantage of
what must be one of the best facilities in the area.
The "Snooker Room" is available from 10am-10.30pm
To play on a regular basis, membership is required. A member is permitted
to have a guest player, on an infrequent basis, but to take full advantage
of the club you are encouraged to pay the annual fee.
The membership year runs from April 1st-31st March.
This coming year the membership will cost £20
Junior membership, for under 16s will cost £10

New Pavilion officially opened
Many members of the community came together
on Sunday 28th March, to take part in the opening of the new facilities
in the recreation ground at South Zeal. The cutting of the ribbon was
carried out by Eamonn Dolan, manager of Exeter City FC, who commented, " I
had a mental picture of what i might be seeing today and, seeing what
has been achieved, it far exceeds those expectations. The facilities
are something for all to be proud of." He also gave mention of the
community programme, that Exeter FC were developing and, that the project
achieved in South Zeal, should be the start of something good that
could be built on. He declared that Exeter FC would always support
such causes.
Ray Souness (Chairman, Recreation Ground) thanked all those involved
in the planning, funding, building and support of the project and thanked
Eamonn for agreeing to open the Pavilion.
After the ceremony, members of the public were invited to look around
and enjoy some light refreshments, whilst chatting with the interested
parties.
South Zeal FC have already made use of the changing facilities, with
two games over the weekend of the opening .
